Delete Undeleteable Files in your PC Written on November 30, 2008, by admin.

If you ever encounter a stubborn file that simply refuses to delete there is a way.
Remember that some files are system files so deleting them can cause the system to fail altogether. This process is handy when trying to get rid of a bad or dangerous file.
- Open a Command Window (Start Accessories - Command Prompt)
- Leave it open but close down all other running programs.
- Now via the Ctrl Alt Del or from the Task Manager (Start - Run Type TASKMGR.EXE) under the processes tab, end the Explorer.exe process.
- Now leaving the task Manager open, return to the Command Prompt

window and type “cd path” to take you to the folder where the file is. eg. “cd c:My Documents” (Without brackets. Also note there is a space between cd and c:)
- Now type “DEL ” (eg “DEL badfile.exe” again without the brackets.
- Once done go back to the Task Manager and under File - New Task type EXPLORER.EXE. This will kick start the windows GUI (interface)
- Close task manager.
As with any tweak back up the registry first and make a copy of the file you are about to delete to a floppy disk just in case that file is needed for some purpose.

Create a Keyboard Shortcut to Your Favorite Programs Written on November 30, 2008, by admin.

In Windows 2000 or XP, you can create quick keyboard shortcuts to your most often used programs. For instance, I’m constantly using Dreamweaver in my job to create web pages. By hitting Ctrl-Alt-D on my keyboard, Dreamweaver automatically starts. Ctrl-Alt-M opens my e-mail program (Mozilla). Here’s how to set it up:
-First, right-click on whatever icon you use to start your program, whether it’s on the Desktop, or in the Start Menu.
-When you right-click on it, you’ll see a pop-up menu.

Choose *Properties* from this menu.
-Find the option marked *Shortcut Key* (for XP, it’s on the *Shortcut* tab).
-Next, press the keys (in unison) that you want to use to start this program.
Your keyboard combination has to be one letter, number, or other character, and 2 of these keys (SHIFT, CTRL, ALT). So for instance, you could use Ctrl-Alt-K to be your combination, or Shift-Ctrl-9, but you can’t use just Shift-5, or Alt-H, since these are already reserved for different uses.
Once you’re done, hit the OK button. Now test our your new shortcut by hitting those keys again.

How to Backup your Firefox Bookmarks and Settings Written on November 30, 2008, by admin.

It seems like I have my entire life in Firefox. The web browser is always open on my computer, and Firefox holds all the web sites I visit daily, my work web sites, my passwords, and tons of information. A new extension helps me backup all of that information in case my Firefox installation ever gets corrupted.
The *Firefox Extension Backup Extension (FEBE)* is the tool we’ll

use - it’s completely free.
First, go to the FEBE web page (http://customsoftwareconsult.com/extensions/febe/febe.html). Find the latest release and click Install. If the Install doesn’t work you may have to “allow” the web site to install the Extension - Firefox will show you a warning if this is the case.
Alternatively, you can download the latest version as a ZIP file. Then rename the file, changing the ZIP extension to XPI, and then open the file with Firefox.
After installing the extension, restart Firefox.
Click on the *Tools *menu, choose *FEBE*, and set the *FEBE Options*. You can then *Backup *and *Restore *your bookmarks, cookies, preferences, and extensions whenever you wish!

Make A Super Hidden Folder Written on November 30, 2008, by admin.

You probably already know how to create just a plain hidden folder. It is
super easy, you just right click on the folder and select Hidden then click
Apply. The problem is that anyone with access to the computer can easily
turn on the Show Hidden Files and Folders and then can easily see the
folder you created. Well here is a trick that will get around this problem
and create a invisible folder that has no text and no icon.
Please note: Once you create a Super Hidden folder that it will be up to you to remember where you put it. I suggest writing down the location in case you should ever forget about where this folder is.
Right Click on the folder you want hidden

, then select Properties :
_Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/0bt5ov1bf44ivvv1z0h2.png _
Click on the Customize Tab (Note this procedure also works on any icon, some icons do not let you Customize. So, if you do not see a Customize tab, then you will have to create a new folder and move the icon that you are trying to make hidden into the newly created folder. Then you will make the folder Super Hidden)
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/pj5r49pwhild6m9f7x.png
Click On the Change Icon button
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/mpgl43nuohivs3i52kps.png
The Change Icon box will pop up with the default Windows Icons (If it does not, then click on the Browse button and navigate to your INDOWS\system32 folder and then find and choose SHELL32.dll then click OPEN
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/vv1fq8flvs9ke6gnnan4.png
Then Scroll to the right and look for a blank icon. Select the blank icon then click Ok.
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/srkdr4cfdcou51ih6pam.png
Then Click Apply. And you should now have a blank icon with only the text below it, like this:
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/prxz4tu995qd3w445b4t.png
In the screenshot, I have the view settings on Thumbnails, which puts the grey box around the folder.
To remove that box, choose either the Icon, Tiles or List from the View settings
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/6kx9gjx056sax8nsdzf.png
Then, Click *Start*, then *My Computer*. Click on *Tools* then *Folder Options. *
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/tz7p5lkww8um3f3y3hxz.png
On the *View* tab check mark *Hide Extensions For Known File Types* then Click *Apply*
Image: http://24×7upload.com/images/b9jxg19×6qclrza52ebd.png
Ok, now that we have that set…Here is the trick to removing the icon title and having a Blank Text untitled icon.
First, right click on the icon that you want to remove it’s title, then go to Rename.
Now, what you need to do, is hold the ALT button down. With the ALT button held down, and using the keypad type *255* then release the ALT button and hit enter, and voila you now have a untitled icon.
Thats it. Now you are done with Super Hidden Folder
